At Digital Forms we help mid-sized service businesses go through digital transformation — part consulting, part building the software ourselves.
This time we're hiring a Technology Lead for a US-based company running a proprietary, AI-integrated SaaS platform in a regulated, healthcare-adjacent industry. The platform is built on a modern AWS serverless stack, and its AI/LLM features aren't a roadmap slide — LLM-based document classification and retrieval-augmented generation for decision support are already live in production. The company is in the middle of an interesting shift: from a services business to a product/platform company, and it's scaling its Poland-based engineering organisation to match.
That's where you come in. It's a newly created role — the first dedicated technical leadership hire embedded with the Polish team: ~15 engineers across backend, frontend, AI/ML and data squads, plus QA, DevOps and design. You'll report to the company's part-time/fractional CIO, who currently coordinates delivery directly, take over day-to-day technical ownership of the team, and become the primary technical point of contact for senior client stakeholders.
Job requirements
What you'll own
Day-to-day technical leadership across multiple engineering squads (backend, frontend, AI/ML, data) plus QA and DevOps
Engineering quality, code review standards, and technical debt management on a modern AWS serverless stack (Lambda, Python/FastAPI, Angular/TypeScript)
Architectural coherence across squads, flagging strategic changes to the CIO
Sprint-level delivery planning, estimation, and cross-squad dependency management
Being the primary technical contact for senior client stakeholders — translating delivery status and technical risk into business terms
Supporting hiring and technical growth of the team as it scales over the next 12–18 months
Requirements
Hard skills:
10+ years in software engineering, including 4+ years in a technical leadership role (Tech Lead, Engineering Manager, or similar) across multiple teams
Experience leading distributed or offshore engineering teams, ideally in a client-facing or vendor-delivery context
Full-stack fluency; hands-on experience with AWS serverless architectures, Python, and modern frontend frameworks (Angular or similar) strongly preferred
Soft skills & logistics:
Comfortable being the technical face of a team to senior, non-technical stakeholders
Fluent professional English
Based in or near Poland, with reasonable overlap with US business hours
Nice to have
Exposure to AI/LLM-integrated features (document processing, RAG pipelines, or similar)
Experience in a regulated industry (healthcare, fintech, or government-adjacent)
